Default Letter To BET About the show,"The Game". Do You All Agree?

Put On Blast: Fans Of “The Game” Series Say BET And Show Creators Ruined What They Fought So Hard To Bring Back, Plus Tia Talks About Her Exit!

Posted on May 17th, 2012 - By Bossip Staff

Uh-oh looks like somebody isn’t too happy with BET Fans of the original “The Game” show that lobbied hard to get the show to return after it’s cancellation from The CW are speaking out about how they feel BET and Akil Productions made a mockery of what they worked so hard to raise from the ashes.

Check it out:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This our open letter to BET, Akil Production and Deborah Lee. Hopefully you”ll post it.

We created a Facebook page awhile back about the direction of The Game since its return on BET. We strongly believe that Akil productions and BET used the show as a stepping stool for other projects and ventures. The Akils to become a “well -known” production company and BET to develop better programming. Since the signing with BET, the Akils have produced Jumping the Broom and Sparkle and paid very little attention to the current state of the show. This ultimately lead to what we believe is the demise of the show. Yes, its just a tv show, however its bigger than that. BET lacks integrity and fails to provide a positive representation for the African American community. Since the show returned to BET, we’ve seen a “ghetto” Brandy, a gun toting, kush smoking, sex addicted, angry black woman in Tasha, a drunk in Malik and a marriage that seems to have an issue every other week with Melanie and Derwin. Not to mention the sudden exit of the only white cast member -Brittany Daniels, which is questionable. We received sloppily written story lines that lack continuity, bad lighting and poorly directed episodes. This is sad as television shows on a whole are on a decline especially shows that are a reflection of our community. The show declines in viewers every week, now averaging 1.9 million viewers, down from 7.7 million in two seasons. Both BET and the Akils should be ashamed in their selfish plot, after we the fans fought for the shows return. We’ve reached out to both BET and the Akils on Twitter and Facebook in the past, which resulted in us being blocked, along with anyone that posted constructive criticism of the show. BET, Deborah Lee and the Akils along with any other future production company should pay attention to the fans, and the quality of programming they provide, if not, this will not be the last show that will quickly fail under BET’s umbrella.

Signed-

Game fans

We agree that the show has become a shell of its former self, but what do you think? Are the Akils to blame? Did BET really do a poor job or do you think they did the best they could with their resources?

MUH members, do you agree with the letter, hence the direction that the show is going since being on BET?

YEAH, I'VE LOST INTEREST IN IT SINCE IT START COMING ON BET. PLUS I ONLY WATCHED IT AFTER "EVERYBODY'S HATES CHRIS" AND SINCE THAT'S NOT ON THE AIR I'VE FORGOTTEN ALL ABOUT IT. IT WAS A PRETTY GOOD SHOW TOO.
AND TASHA IS FROM RICHMOND, CA SHE NOT ACTING. LOL!

But wait there's more:

Article from 104 FM website:

Pooch Hall And Tia Mowry Got Fired From BET’s The Game!
May 16, 2012 by cams

Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall have both been fired from BETs hit series The Game. According to MediaTakeOut.com Tia and Pooch had been promised a higher wage when they first signed on to the BET hit series. An insider explained, “Everyone took a pay cut when [BET] picked up the show … they were promised that if the show was a success, the entire cast would be well paid.” That’s not what happened. The insider added, “They were not being paid what they deserved. The Game was BET’s highest rated series ever, and they were being paid like reality stars.” After a long negotiation Pooch and Tia made a final offer and BET was like duces and told that if they would not come down in salary there fired. Other castmembers may be leaving also.

But Wait There's More. Check Out Who Is Going To Replace Tia Mowry:

Will You Be Watching? Lauren London Set To Replace Tia Mowry On The Game

Posted on June 21st, 2012 - By Bossip Staff

Looks like the folks over at The Game aren’t wasting any time trying to fill the openings left by Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall’s departure. The “ATL” star, Lauren London will be joining the cast of the BET sitcom for its sixth season.

The 27-year-old, whose previous TV credits include 90210 and Entourage, is penned to play the role of Keira, a 20-year-old former child star who is currently appearing on a Cosby Show-esque sitcom. According to TV Line, the show’s producers are also on the lookout for a male lead to play an educated, all-star running back to act opposite Lauren.

The Game has just concluded it’s fifth season, with Pooch’s character deciding to get a fresh start by joining Tia’s character in Washington D.C.

The show will return next year with regulars Wendy Raquel Robinson, Coby Bell, Hosea Chanchez, Brandy Norwood and Barry A. Floyd.

A new set of characters may be just the thing the writers need to breathe new life into the stale show. It would have been nice for them to introduce the new characters before getting rid of Derwin and Melanie, but maybe they’ll do guest spots to help phase out their storyline.

Do you think Lauren will be a good addition to the show? Will you be tuning in?

I wasn't much of a The Game watcher until it went into syndication from the CW reruns. I was more of a Girlfriends watcher.

However, regarding The Game, these are things that I saw from the BET version that jacked it up:

1) Why did they fire the girl that played Kelly and her husband's daughter and replace her with a teenager? The original girl is a preteen today and she is currently on a show on the GMC network with Eric Benet.

2) I know Tasha is ghetto, but she is so lonely and desperate for a man that she has a relationship with a male prostitute?

3) Why was Kelly's character phased out of the show?

I never understood what it was about the show that everyone loved....seemed like the entire cast played dysfunctional people. A bunch of ho's...male and female.

I disagree, sort of, Tommy. I think the writing was good when the show was on the CW and I thought it did do a good job focusing on sports relationships and the behind the scenes politics of the football/sports entertainment industry.

This is the sort of part of it. I agree that the writing did get crappy when the show was moved to BET.

WOW!!! They better let them know once again (with the letter). I've been watching the show, but it has changed a lot and not for the better. I can't believe Tia and Pooch are gone and I'm not sure if I'll be watching next season with that. That's f***ed up!!! They need to get their s*** together or next season could be their last!!! SMDH!!! This isn't a good thing at all.
